Frequently Asked Questions

What platforms does Muloud support?

Muloud supports 1000+ video and audio platforms including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter/X, Vimeo, SoundCloud, Dailymotion, Reddit, Facebook, Twitch, and hundreds more. If the URL points to a supported site, it just works.

Does Muloud download videos?

No. Muloud extracts metadata only. It never downloads media files. This means low latency, low bandwidth, and no legal issues.

How fast are API responses?

Most metadata requests return in 1-5 seconds. The /v1/resolve endpoint typically responds in under 500ms. All responses include a processing_time_ms field so you can measure performance.

What data does the /v1/info endpoint return?

Title, description, duration, uploader, upload date, view count, like count, thumbnail URL, live stream status, and the number of available formats.

Can I get thumbnails in different sizes?

Yes. The /v1/thumb endpoint accepts a size parameter: small (120px), medium (320px), large (640px), or original. It returns the best match plus a list of all available thumbnails with dimensions.

What happens with geo-restricted content?

If a video is geo-restricted, Muloud returns a GEO_RESTRICTED error code with a descriptive message. Your application can handle this gracefully using the consistent error envelope.

Does Muloud work with live streams?

Yes. Live streams return metadata normally, but the duration field will be null since the stream is ongoing.

How do I handle shortened URLs?

Use the /v1/resolve endpoint. It follows the entire redirect chain (including meta-refresh redirects), detects the destination platform, and returns the final URL. Then pass that URL to /v1/info.

Is there a free tier?

Yes. The Basic plan includes 100 requests per month at no cost. Upgrade anytime for higher limits.

What format is the API response?

Every endpoint returns a consistent JSON envelope: { "success": true, "data": {...}, "cached": false, "processing_time_ms": 1234.56 }. Errors follow the same structure with a code and message field.
